jQuery AJAX implementation
What currently works
The user loads index.php. The click on the boat picture that appears to open the a detailed view of this particular listing in a modal dialog box. In this modal dialog box there is an icon to edit the listing (a pencil icon). When clicked, it loads the listing in a modal dialog box again, but this time allows the user to edit the file contents via form fields and TinyMCE. All this works currently.
Desired Functionality
When the user clicks the "Update" button on the bottom of the page, I need to update the DB for the listing without leaving this modal page. Currently the form loads a page called "[login to view URL]". This form will contain my code to update the DB, returning TRUE if it updates successfully and returning FALSE if it fails. I can write this PHP code that will update the database and return TRUE upon success or FALSE if it fails.
What I need the developer to do is make it so a returned TRUE value will trigger a div at the top of the modal page that displays the status as "The Database Was Updated Successfully" versus if FALSE is returned, the div will display "ERROR! The Database Failed to Update!". The div that will display the status is called . The status of the update, successful or not, should fade out of view after 5 seconds. The user should not leave the modal box they are in or have it visually reload. It should be all handled by AJAX.
Summary
Clicking "Update" will utilize AJAX to keep user inside the modal dialog box but load an external page with the result of that load being either TRUE or FALSE… which in turn will make a div appear for 5 seconds showing the status of the update. True is success, False is a failure. I will write the PHP code to return either the true or false. I need the developer to handle the jQuery to stay on the modal page and make the div appear and disappear depending upon the value returned.
MUST work across IE 8, IE 9, IE 10, Safari, FF and Chrome
Hi, I have read your project specifications, and understand that you would like a div added to the top of your page which will report if the database is updated correctly, this is in conjunction with adding some jQuery AJAX to send the submitted form off, without refreshing the page. We have a lot of experience in working with PHP and jQuery, and feel that we can get this project completed for you within 24 hours.
