I need a microsite by April 13, 2011. The microsite will list information for an upcoming event. FEATURE 1 OF MICROSITE: The home page of the microsite will feature a large map (a graphic image, probably one that looks like a satellite photo). There will be about 10 points of interest on the map. When the user rolls their mouse over certain areas of the map, I need a large "pop-up" window to appear, which will show detailed information about the event in the city they are pointing to. Note: - The user does NOT have to click on the city name. Instead, the "pop-up" window should appear automatically. - The "pop-up" window is not really a pop-up window. It needs to be done using CSS. See this website for an example: [login to view URL] - NO PART of this site may be done in Flash. - The site must be written in HTML, CSS, AJAX and/or ASP.NET (using C#). No PHP!!!!! No ColdFusion. No Visual Basic. Important Note: The info that appears in these "pop-up" windows is data driven and subject to (frequent) change. In other words, if the user hovers over a city, he/she may see "April 27, 2011 5:00 pm" in the "pop-up" window. The Administrator may need to change this information. What is the best way to allow an admin to EASILY update the content within each "pop-up" window? I'm thinking the user can accomplish this in one of the following two ways: Option A: The user edits an Excel file, then uploads the Excel file to the web server. As soon as the updated Excel file is uploaded, this will "update" the content within each "pop-up" window. In other words, whenever a user hovers over a "pop-up" window, the content within that pop-up is pulled from the Excel data file. Option B: Create an admin web page that contains a series of forms. Each form represents the content of a pop-up window. So if the Admin needs to edit the content inside of the "Chicago" pop-up, he/she can log into the Admin site, click on the "Chicago" link, edit the details and click "Save". This instantly updates the site. --------- FEATURE 2 OF MICROSITE: Along the bottom of the microsite will be a series of graphic images. Each image represents one of the cities on the map. So in other words, the visitor can roll over Chicago on the map, and a "pop-up" window will appear, listing the event details for Chicago. OR ... the user can click on the static "Chicago" graphic at the bottom of the page. If the visitor CLICKS on the graphic, they are directed to a web page that is dedicated to that city (Chicago, in this example). That web page will list the details of the Chicago event. (Again, the content needs to be "pulled" from the data file. I can provide most of the graphic elements that will make up this site. Your job will be to: - Take the graphic elements I supply and create a well-formed, cross-browser compatible HTML site. (Remember - NO Flash! No PHP!). - Write all of the fancy CSS necessary to create the onmouseover "pop-up" windows - Write the code necessary to read the data from the data file and populate the pop-up windows. (I'm thinking AJAX can be implemented here to "pre-load" the data so that as the visitor hovers over each city on the map, the pop-up windows appear quickly, with the updated data already in place. A few more things: - In the example website above, notice that as you move your mouse away from the link, the pop-up window SLOWLY fades away. It is important to keep that effect. The window should not suddenly disappear when the user moves their mouse away. Instead, it should gently disappear. - Assume that (unfortunately) some people will visit this site with older browsers - IE6, IE7, Firefox 3.x ... the site should function in these old sites. If the "pop-up" effect is not possible in IE6, then the visitor should not get any error messages or see any strangeness. Instead, the city names on the map might function as regular links. (i.e. the user clicks on the city name and goes to the appropriate page) ********** I NEED A WORKING VERSION OF THIS SITE BY WEDNESDAY APRIL 13, End of Day. The site needs to GO LIVE and be 100% FUNCTIONAL on April 17. I CANNOT miss this deadline so if you don't have the skills to provide the exact functionality described above, please do not bid. ********** attached is another example of a website that features a css "pop-up" box when the user hovers over a point of interest on a map.
