G'day, My name is Mat from Sydney! I've been building websites for the past 5 years both for companies & for myself and many are currently ranking high in Google (both Google Australia & USA). First off let me tell you: you want to work with an Aussie. Trust me. Dealing with some of these foreign providers is incredibly difficult and the language barrier does reflect on finished products.
