Hi. I have done projects: With STM32 L0/1 and F0/1/2/4 series and Arm-based chips like BLE nrf51822 & nrf52822. Once I used STM32f103 to program AVR and STM32 on a mass production line. With Simcom sim808, Quectel mc60e, AI thinker a7, Ublox neo7, and neo8 and I am comfortable with all GPS/GSM modules Designing a smart home device using MQTT over TCP with my own broker and I have also used AWS and Azure in my projects. Using OTA and also DFU firmware update. Ninix, for example, is an infant health monitor which uses BLE4 to send data to a smartphone over GATT protocol and capable of DFU updates. Designing battery charging circuits and I would suggest LTC4054 which is greatly reliable. I have done a project just like yours, I used the accelerometer high sample rate to update devices location faster and more accurate and decrease GPS fault tolerance.
