In Nigeria, there is a common challenge of mechanical equipment maintenance due to lack of spare parts and train personnel. For this reason many mechanical equipment are abandoned and sold as scrap instead of redesigning for other use. For example a 1980 crane still operate in USA while a 1996 crane is abandoned in Nigeria. If the crane stop working ,the engine and transmission can be removed to build something new.
