USB to Serial Communication of Desktop RFID

Hello, my name is George Bouris. I'm HW and SW developer for the industrial sector. I program serial communication (RS232, but, also, other interfaces) literally every day. My proposal is for an application that will automatically find the available serial (COM) ports, identify the one that the device is connected (needs the SDK to support it - which usually does), start receiving data, format and place it in a dynamically controlled buffer and send to the server through a POST request in user selectable time intervals. In addition, it will allow the manual selection of the desired serial port, setting the desired data transmission time interval, setting the target URL etc. All of the above data will be stored in a configuration file and will be read back on startup. I can also create the server-side script that will receive and store the data. The development will take just a few days and the payment will be on completion. Hello, I do develop various real-life applications for RFID periodically and could help you with your application. So I could implement it on the C#, with friendly (and simple) GUI + it may be a Windows service implemented which run automatically. There are some details, which may depend on the SDK you mentioned and USB-COM approach. Anyways, I have got good practical experience with serial port communications on the C# (there are nuances :) related with event-driven approach in the C#. By the way, on of the RFID applications I developed was a real-time server-client application, there was built-in http server (implemented on the C#) in "server" desktop application and simple command-based protocol to receive/confirm data from several client applications which provide data from RFID devices. So no problem for me develop/implement what you required. We have to discuss more details of course. Ok. I hope hear from you, have the discussion and start the project if we agreed. Hi, I have worked on several projects on Windows/Linux side that uses hardware interface especially serial over USB port. Recently I have worked on a project Intelligent Parking contorl, a C# application, that connects to serial port (over USB) to get the parking status from Arduino board and logs the detail and shows the detail on GUI. On the Linux side I have worked (and working) on a projects where a vending machine is connected via USB-serial and code implements a protocol over serial (MDB protocol). Also working on a Rasberry pi project that will connect to a RFID reader and will host a webpage to show the status of reader. We can configure the transmission frequency, target url etc on the UI. Also we can listen for the COM port change and if inserted device is ours, we can communicating with that automatically. But we need to keep the application open for that. Thanks!

Application can hide in the tray and pop up when device is connected. We have arduino experience too, but it does not sound relevant to you desktop app. We can develop the app in .net. Hello, I'm an experienced developer and have worked previously with RFID devices on both Windows and Linux and can implement this project for you. I've also developed RS-232 interfaces to a wide variety of devices. For this project, I would develop the application as a C# desktop application. While it's certainly possible to hook into the plugin event of the device, however, often the devices which use a virtual comm. port don't override the USB IDs and so it may conflict with another device / application. Hello. My several last projects was programming RFID for microcontroller, and windows GUI program for arduino control. So I can do this job too. :) About waiting connection USB port - program can run in idle mode (in tray/background) sometimes scan USB ports, and when detect RFID - goto foreground and make main work. Program can take less 1% CPU and 5Mb of RAM. I prefer use Embarcadero C++ Builder. So it's C++, but not Microsoft Visual Studio. As additional pros: my program don't need any framework and work on any Windows version.

This'll be a useful project for me as well. I'm an experienced senior developer that's done a few projects with microcontrollers: like an MP3 player for the 8051, control systems for a 120 pound FRC Robot, etc. My most recent project used the serial port to command a microcontroller to transmit wirelessly to another microcontroller to move a servo linked up to a light switch, because why not? I've also developed computer software like piano leopard, I've done custom web development to link my Minecraft server's chat with a website. My code is well architected and clean, and also follows good UI design practices. For your project, I'll do whatever it takes to see the project through to completion - even if it means unexpectedly developing a 100% accurate OCR algorithm from scratch like my last project. No low quality work from me. Automatically launching the program can be done by writing a custom Windows driver - drivers get loaded when the device is plugged in.
