Our customer needed a highly available load balanced WAN Routing solution for robust internet connectivity through multiple 4G Modems working over different carriers. The entire solution is implemented as a custom embedded linux distribution based on Linux 4.0 kernel using Yocto. The firmware consists of the following major components: Kernel Module developed as part of this solution is responsible for advance routing of network packets based on available WAN interfaces and network traffic load on them. Following feature set is implemented in the kernel module - network load balancing, traffic shaping, fair access policy (FAP), RTT, Configurations, Controls & Statistics. Python Application developed as part of this solution works in collaboration with kernel module. And is responsible for following activities - dialling and monitoring health of PPP based modems and upload of various system statistics like carrier details, modem details, SIM details, carrier signal strength, cell
