OSCommerce Theme and additional functions

I have a new online shop based upon OSCommerce. I use the theme "TechnoStore" you also can find with search engines.
Now some modifications have to be done in the theme; for example products shall have additional parameters, upon their values (basically yes or no) an icon will be displayed in all product views (blocks and pages) as well as the search page of advanced search shall be enhanced by some more options (like checkboxes for these additional parameters mentioned before to search for).
There are more modifications, we will discuss after I've chosen for a freelancer.
If the freelancer is from Europe or speaking German it would be great to avoid misunderstandings.
