S. Census Bureau’s International Database. The data file is on the student I: drive and on the STAT171 web site. The actual data-set is as follows: Column1 Country 2 3 Infant Mortality Rate for both sexes 4 for males 5 for females 6 Life Expectancy for both sexes 7 for males 8 for females all figures are for numbers per 1000 of population. a) Obtain suitable graphs and descriptive statistics for the Infant Mortality and Life Expectancy variables ignoring gender. Comment on the data. Is this expected or unexpected? b) Create a variable that defines the “type of country?? for each of the countries. The most obvious categories would be : 1 = developed country 2 = Africa etc Be careful not to be too specific in defining your regions. If you do so, the sample sizes will be too small to provide any meaningful results. You will need to create this variable manually by giving each record a value of 1, or 2, or 3, or 4 etc. Use this Type variable to obtain suitable comparative graphs and comparative descriptive statistics for each Type for Infant Mortality and Life Expectancy.
