ASP/Access Script

I have an ASP script that is almost complete but I am tight on time and need help to finish. Here is what it needs to do:

-using an Access DB that has already been set up, it needs to take the employee number passed from the form and check to see if:

1) the employee number is blank, if so display a message saying "You reached this page incorrectly"

2) if it is not blank, then it needs to check the table to see if the employee number already exists. If it does, it needs to display the existing recordset to the user (I have the results returning).

3) if the employee number does not already exist in the table, it needs to pull the first record that is blank, display that recordset to the user and then update that row with the employee number to flag it as being used.
