CHARACTERIZATION OF KARST TERRAIN USING GEOPHYSICAL METHODS: ANINA KARSTIC REGION

To understand karst topography, we must determine both the nature and the factors that are defining dissolution processes in soluble rocks, as well as the drainage network resulting from these processes. The goal of this paper is to understand the underground drainage direction configuration and, also, the factors that are involved in surface water drainage of the Anina karstic region.

USING DIGITAL ELEVATION MODEL (DEM) IN KARST TERRAIN ANALYSIS. STUDY CASE: ANINA MINING AREA

Carpathian Journal of Earth and Environmental Sciences

We derived the following parameters: slope gradient, drainage depth, drainage density, TPI and TWI. All parameters that were derived using DEM indicate that the study area is a highly karstificated one, with an evoluted karst, where slope, drainage density and drainage depth are morphometric parameters that are highly influenced by karstic evolution.
