Build 2 Xamarin Forms Library Functions for Mobile Camera OCR and NFC Data Capture

We are looking for someone with xamarin forms skills to help with the development of iOS and Android modules to extract passport information held in biometric passports. This will involve providing functions that we can embed in an existing Xamarin forms app to do the following discrete tasks: • Use the mobile camera to capture the “MRZ” text from a passport. • Extract the passport data stored in the passports biometric chip via the NFC module of the phone (it requires the MRZ text as the “key” to access the chip data) The passport data includes various passport data items including a hi-res passport photo. We require all of this data including the photo as a result of successful capture. We require 2 functions that we can call which are self-contained and provide the necessary data or feedback on success or failure. These tasks need to run on the phone and there can be no calling out to external services. There can be no data storage, all data must be held in memory. Outline of what each of these functions will do is as follows: Function 1 - AquirePassportMRZ() Returns: captured mrz format data in json format Enables camera, adds a white overlay template to the screen with the mrz section visible. On successful acquisition turns the template text green. There is a check digit formula that can be used that the mrz if valid so do not accept the ocr’d text until this is valid. Once a valid string is obtained, complete the function. Will need the ability to turn the flash on and off and cancel the process. Appropriate errors are returned. Function 2 - AquirePassportNFC(mrzData) Passed in: mrzData acquired in the first function is used as a key to access the NFC chip on the passport Returns: captured passport data in json format Screen showing user “Read to scan - place top of phone in the middle of passport”. NFC detection begins when it can read the chip. Progress bar showing progress to 0-100% On successful acquisition, returns the captured data in json format. The image can be stored as a byte array either in the json or separately. Appropriate errors are returned. Note: In order to test and illustrate how these functions work, it will be necessary to supply them in a skeleton test app for both iOS and Android. --------------- The finished code will be incorporated into a new self-service onboarding process in an existing application which is targeted at consumers and business users. The mobile app is written in xamarin forms by our internal development team. It is essential that the developer is an experienced xamarin developer and is familiar with capturing content and ocr-ing via the phones camera (for the mrz) and reading NFC content.
