3D Web Engineer for Mars-themed game

Colonize Mars is a Mars colony simulation game that combines blockchain mechanics with web-based gameplay. The game uses the latest aerospace technology to inform mission payloads and objectives, with the goal of educating players on the real science needed to colonize mars. [login to view URL] We are looking for a 3D Web Engineer to lead the client-side development of our web-based mobile-first Mars colony game. This would be a contract position for 6 months with a potential of renewal or transition to full time. Responsibilities Lead the development of an interactive 3D Mars colony map for our mobile-first web game. There must be an extreme focus on performance and scalability to include more game objects and features over time. Ability to work comfortably within our React web application and contribute to various front-end development tasks when needed. Work closely with the Backend Engineering team to design and integrate internal and external APIs, gameplay mechanics, and UI into the map and dashboards for the game. Work closely with design and product teams to translate UX/UI designs and product requirements into code. Produce code that is clear and concise, and consistent with best-in-class coding standards. Minimum Qualifications 3+ years of experience developing 3D/XR web games using popular engines and frameworks such as Unity, Phaser, WebGL, ThreeJS, and others. 5+ years of experience using JavaScript in a professional software development setting (Mix of Game Development and Web Development strongly preferred). Experience with web technologies and standards including but not limited to React, Node.js, CSS, JSON, HTTP, and Restful APIs/Web Services. Proficiency with Git and GitHub. Mobile web game development experience with shipped titles. Excellent oral and written English language skills. Preferred Qualifications Low-level 3D rendering expertise. Strong grasp of CPU and GPU performance challenges and optimization techniques. Solid understanding of 3D content creation tools and pipelines
