Police Chaplain Ride Along Training

My name is Althea Richardson and I am the administrator for our program United Chaplains Ride along Association, a 501c 3 organization specialized in training chaplains to assistance and support police officers in the line of duty. As a ride along chaplain, our goal is not only to assist in crisis situations within the community but also offer a listening ear to officers who experience personal problems of their own. Our chaplain has volunteered over 300 hours of ride along support to the Houston Police Department in the Southwest area of Houston for over six months. Many of the officers who confide in the chaplain discuss their need to talk to someone but are hesitant for fear of backlash from Internal Affairs. The results from not seeking counsel have a negative effect not only on the home of the officer but also their community. We are seeking financial assistance in expanding our program.
