JOB SUMMARY The Payroll Administrator (Level I) is responsible for processing the biweekly payroll for union and non-union employees across multiple locations. This position ensures the accuracy of the payrolls and compliance with company policies and legal requirements. The ideal candidate should be highly organized and able to work well under pressure while exhibiting knowledge of payroll processes and wage and hour laws. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND REQUIREMENTS Responsible for the accurate and timely preparation and processing of biweekly union and non-union payroll Ensure that payroll is processed in compliance with wage and hour laws and legal requirements Audit time and attendance system to ensure accuracy of hours reported Coordinate efforts between cross-functional teams to ensure employee data integrity Reconcile payroll prior to transmission Calculate retroactive pay Process off cycle checks for terminations, vacations and other payouts Process and maintain garnishment information Assist employees with payroll related inquires Initiate payroll general journal entries Complete various state and federal census forms Develop ad hoc financial and operational reporting as needed Assist in department initiatives and system enhancements QUALIFICATIONS: Associates degree in Accounting or related field 3+ years of experience processing payroll and time entry functions Experience with payroll software and timekeeping systems High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Knowledge of payroll best practices Knowledge of federal and state wage and tax laws and FLSA requirements Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion Professional and personable communication skills with all levels of the organization Requires a high degree of accuracy with a well-developed attention to detail Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment while also working in a team oriented, collaborative environment Ability to multi-task while handling interruptions and changing priorities in a high volume work environment Commitment to continuous improvement Dedicated to high quality customer service delivery and integrity Demonstrated problem solving and analytical abilities Flexibility to work overtime when necessary The Wine Group is an equal opportunity employer.
