We need a web-based tool/script for measuring the strength of a domain/page using multiple criteria. It will be similar to [login to view URL]’s Trifecta tool ([login to view URL]). The tool needs to be able to analyze a root level domain (non spidering) or a specific url or page. The tool will query different criteria, run an algorithm based on the number and information received from each criteria to give an overall score or ranking. Database setup is required for storage of each report generated. The script should measure the following areas when a domain is submitted. 1. Google PageRank of Homepage 2. Average Google PageRank of top 10 pages in Google 3. Median Google PageRank of top 10 pages in Google 4. Google New Mention Count 5. Compete Rank 6. Alexa Rank 7. Dmoz Links 8. Google Blog Search Links 9. Technorati Blog Reactions 10. Yahoo Site Explorer Links 11. Quantcast Rank 12. Wikipedia Links 13. Domain Age in Days 14. Google Domain Mentions 15. Pages Indexed in Google 16. Link Diversity of Domain 17. Links from Restricted TLDs (edu, gov, etc) 18. XML Sitemap/[login to view URL] exists When a unique url is submitted, many of the same tests would be run. The following would be different tests that need to run. 1. Yahoo Site Explorer Links to Page 2. Google Blog Search Links to Page 3. Ranking in Google for 1st 4 words in Title Tag of Page 4. Google PageRank of Page 5. Number of Internal Links on Page 6. Number of External Links on Page 7. Text to HTML Ratio on Page 8. Average PageRank of Top 50 Incoming Links to Page 9. Page Load Speed At the bottom of this bid is a detailed list of the queries and links to where to gather its’ information. The majority will probably be through API’s. We are open to recommendations though. (scraping vs. API) The script should perform reasonably quick, no more than 2-3 minutes from submission to results. It will be hosted on a Linux machine with needed PHP capabilities. I will be actively involved in the creation process helping to acquire the right data from the right locations. You will be required to pull the data and apply our own domain strength algorithms. I will provide the rest of the calculations and algorithm we will be using after a coder is selected. ## Deliverables **References and Additional Information** **Domain Information** **Google PageRank ofHomepage** Google'sPageRank algorithm is the system that originally powered the search engine'srankings (and remains an important factor today). The Google Toolbar shows ascore from 1 to 10 (on a logarithmic scale, meaning it is an order of magnitudemore difficult to achieve a 5 over a 4, etc.) that estimates the relative linkpopularity of a page. **Average GooglePageRank of top 10 pages in Google** Weneed to take the top 10 pages for a domain, excluding the homepage (using thesearch tld site:[login to view URL] - example), then checks the PageRank of each to geta rough distribution of PR, and estimate the relative link popularity of thesite. **Median GooglePageRank of top 10 pages in Google** MedianPageRank of Top 10 Pages on Site - As with the Avg PageRank of the top 10pages, Domain Strength reports back on the median value as an indication ofvariance/consistency of PageRanks across a domain. **Google New MentionCount** Google'sNews search tracks stories from thousands of sources. Having your domain/brandmentioned in Google News a large number of times is positively correlated witha more important, competitive website. Our tool checks for the number ofmentions in the past month (example ). <[login to view URL]> **Compete Rank** Competeis one of several services that aims to provide data about website trafficlevels based on intelligence gathered from ISPs, toolbar usage data and othersources. Compete shows a rank (from 1 - the most popular site on the web, allthe way into the 10s of millions - for very low traffic sites) for each site ithas collected data about and displays it on a trends page. <[login to view URL]> **Alexa Rank** Aswith Compete & Quantcast, Alexa aims to measure relative traffic levels(primarily via the Alexa toolbar). A low Alexa rank suggests high trafficlevels and an important website. <[login to view URL]> **Dmoz Links** TheOpen Directory Project lists websites and pages its editors feel are worthwhileand important. Although the project has declined in importance and freshnessover the past several years, multiple references from DMOZ are still a solidindication that a site is noteworthy & valuable. [[login to view URL]][1] **Google Blog SearchLinks** AlthoughGoogle's link command has reported inaccurate and largely useless data foryears, Google's BlogSearch engine provides this data (specifically for linksfrom blogs) with far greater precision. A high number of links from theblogosphere suggests greater importance and popularity. [[login to view URL]][2] **Technorati BlogReactions** Technorati'sblog search engine tracks more than 10 million unique blogs across the web. The# of blog reactions to a domain indicates how many blog posts have referencedURLs on a given site, and thus how important or influential that site is in theblogosphere. <[login to view URL]> **Yahoo Site ExplorerLinks** Inorder to examine the link popularity of the domain on which the URL resides (acrucial factor in popularity and potential search engine ranking ability), PageStrength pulls the number of external links to the entire domain as reported byYahoo! Site Explorer. [[login to view URL]][3] **Quantcast Rank** LikeCompete, Quantcast measures website popularity based on an estimate of traffic.A lower Quantcast rank tends to indicate a more important, more popular website. <[login to view URL]> **Wikipedia Links** Using a Wikipedia search, wedetermine how many references have been made to pages on your domain. A highernumber of Wikipedia attributions suggest a website that the online communitybelieves to be important and reference-worthy. <[login to view URL]:LinkSearch&target=*.www.rentacoder.com&limit=500&offset=0> **Domain Age in Days** Checkproper Whois to obtain start date of domain. Older websites are often morecompetitive in the search results, and better referenced overall, hence themetric's inclusion. **Google DomainMentions** Usinga domain-specific search string, we extract the number of results Googlereports for instances of your site name across the web. High number suggest animportant, popular site. [[login to view URL]:[login to view URL]][4] **Pages Indexed inGoogle** The number of pages indexed in Google give a relative ideaon a if a site is being listed and if so how many of its pages are being [login to view URL] number usually will indicate a stronger domain. No Source **Link Diversity ofDomain** Having links pointing to a domain from various sources isbetter for ranking in the search engines. Having majority of links pointingfrom the same domains will weigh less in rankings of a domain. **Links from RestrictedTLDs (edu, gov, etc)** Links from restricted TLDs are more difficult to acquire andgive more weight to a domains ranking ability. **XMLSitemap/[login to view URL] exists** Having an XML sitemap and [login to view URL] that points to thecorrect location of the XML sitemap is an important factor in determining adomains indexable pages. ? **Individual Page Information** **Yahoo Site Explorer Linksto Page** Same as above, just using a specific page opposed to adomain. **Google Blog SearchLinks to Page** Same as above, just using a specific page opposed to adomain. **Ranking in Google for1st 4 words in Title Tag of Page** GoogleRanking for 1st 4 Words in Title Tag - To calculate a page's potential to rankcompetitively at Google, we check it's performance in the results for the first4 words used in the title tag. Pages that rank highly suggest more importance,at least for their targeted subject matter. No source **Google PageRank ofPage** Same as above, just using a specific page opposed to adomain. **Number of InternalLinks on Page** The number of links on the page that point to other pages onthe same domain. If the number is overwhelming high or very low, the site hasn’tbeen designed properly for SEO benefits and would rank lower. **Number of ExternalLinks on Page** The number of external links on a page is important for pagestrength. If there is a high number of links pointing to other domains it isconsidered bad for rankings. **Text to Code Ratio onPage** Too much code and not enough content (text) on a page cancause problems for indexability in search engines. A high ratio of code to textis bad for page strength and ranking. **Average PageRank ofTop 50 Incoming Links to Page** PageRank needs to be calculated for the top 50 incominglinks using Yahoo Site Explorer to determine the links, then checking thePageRank of those pages. **Page Load Speed** Faster load speed is better for page strength. Page loadspeed needs to be tested.
