This category expert has a unique perspective – across channels – to enable a higher-level, consumer marketing strategy; and offers subject matter expertise to our partners to increase joint successes within a product category. They create marketing strategies that optimize the consumer journey across CCG channels to drive share, revenue, category profit and customer preference for Microsoft products<br/><br/>Key Responsibilities<br/><br/>Analysis &amp; Insight<br/>• Assess industry &amp; market trends<br/>• Understand the consumer: behaviors, attitudes and motivations.<br/>• Extensive product knowledge of both Microsoft and competitors<br/>• Incorporation of new concepts into marketing strategy<br/><br/>Strategic Business Planning<br/>• Create strategic business objectives<br/>• Create category planning across all consumer touch points<br/>• Coordinate partner segmentation &amp; prioritization<br/>• Strategically influence assortment &amp; merchandising<br/>• Execution against the product life cycle<br/><br/>Retail Marketing Principles<br/>• Develop integrated marketing plans<br/>• Ensure positioning &amp; messaging<br/>• Strategic marketing objectives in-store and online<br/><br/>Consultative Leadership<br/>• Influence partners with category expertise<br/>• Drive the sales motion across the channels<br/>• Impact &amp; Influence the product business groups<br/>• Drive cross group collaboration <br/>• Measure execution and ROI<br/><br/>Business Operational Excellence<br/>• Execute against retail budgets<br/>• Demonstrate creativity and entrepreneurial behavior<br/><br/>Leadership<br/>• Direct and indirect leadership with outcomes<br/>• Executive presence and leadership<br/>• Influence across boundaries<br/>• Impact and Influence w/o Authority<br/>• Ensure that your Category Managers land and localize the positioning and messaging frameworks for the business group. <br/>• Evangelize Microsoft’s overall strategy and direction – internally and externally - by aligning value proposition information with target audience, brand personality, and desired attitude change.<br/>• Monitor the consistency and successful builds of the product brand attributes and promise across multiple campaigns, across multi fiscal years. <br/>• Continually innovate on amplifying the impact and reach of the Category Manager team<br/><br/>Role Accountabilities<br/><br/>Partner<br/>• Revenue of category<br/>• Category Profit<br/>• Inventory management<br/>• Space optimization<br/>• Share growth<br/>• Customer experience<br/><br/>Microsoft<br/>• Revenue, share and profit<br/>• Scorecard metrics<br/>• Customer experience<br/>• Market Attach<br/>• Market Budget management<br/>• Marketing KPIs<br/>• New customer insights<br/>• Partner program) creation<br/><br/>Role Key Activities<br/><br/>Plan: <br/>• Create category marketing strategy, and guidance<br/>• Plan marketing budgets <br/>• Build strong ecosystem expertise<br/>• Influence future retail assortment <br/><br/>Execute: <br/>• Provide strategic category and marketing plans/pitch decks <br/>• Approve account marketing plans<br/>• Provide product/consumer experience expertise (SME)<br/><br/>Manage &amp; Monitor:<br/>• Develop market analytics and BI insights in a category<br/>• Manage the product life cycle through GTM plans and category P&amp;L and scorecards.<br/>• Scorecard Correction of Errors<br/><br/>Experiences Required<br/>• 10+ years’ experience in business development, category management and/or product planning<br/>• Core marketing experience<br/>• Consumer marketing or sales background or proven knowledge of consumer selling channels<br/>• Being a conduit between technology and the business with the voice of customer in mind<br/>• Financial and analytical experience<br/>• Management experience<br/><br/>Education <br/>• Four year college degree required – MBA preferred<br/><br/>There is no better time to join Microsoft than right now - the company is changing in leaps and bounds.
