Stream microphone from browser to Node.JS

We need to record the microphone from a browser (must support all major browsers including Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge) and stream using a proper codec to a Node.JS server. This can be achieved through a web socket or using WebRTC.
At the end of the line, the Node.JS server needs to have 16-bit 48000Hz PCM data. Can be written to WAV for testing/confirmation.
