I coach a youth ringette team. Ringette is a sport originated in Canada. It is an ice sport that is played on a rink similar to that of hockey. The sport includes a straight stick and a rubber ring. One specific skill in the sport is to "stab" the ring. This is when the players needs to get their stick in the ring in order to carry the ring. In order to stab the ring, a common technique is to "sight" the ring. Sighting the ring is to hold the end of the stick in the air so it appears to be in the center of the ring as it approaches. The player continues to sight the ring until it gets close enough to the player to stab the ring and then carry it down the ice on their stick. This is a difficult concept to pick up for most players. A simple game app where the ring approaches the users stick and the user has to align the tip of the stick with the ring until finally they stab it would help their off-ice development of this skill. When the stick is aligned with the ring (sighted) then the center of the ring could turn green, or similar. Then a successful "stab" gains a point. You have 10 tries and get scored out of 10 with how many successful stabs were achieved. Coaching this team is a volunteer position, so cost is critical as there will be no profit from the project other than the development of the children's skills.
