Create a simple dashboard ajax and jquery

I can use php as our backend API to communicate with sqllite database. As the database will change continuously, about 20 times per second, the server response might be slow to fetch and display data (considering network speed/and request time). Sqllite does not provide any functionality or events to let us know if the database is changed, so I need to make an ajax request at every millisecond probably 50 to know the db changes. Need to implement it first to know how the performance is, only then I can assess how long it will take and hence how much it will cost. I can also try Reverse AJAX but have never used it and it is a relatively new so cannot know unless I try. So let me know.
