Multi-Lingual Video Player Development

Here are the details on the player skinning/development needs that we have: 1. You can see a non-skinned player version of what we are looking to accomplish at [login to view URL] In the "Check with your own playlist" input box, insert and load [login to view URL] Note that the separate streams labeled according to their respective languages, other than English, do not play back audio when selected. But the the audio tracks labeled "TS/AAC 1, …2, etc." do load video with audio. More on this below. 2. Background Information Our live broadcast will have a single video with multiple audio languages. Our goal is that the user can select between the available languages. If you have an iOS device, the native player demonstrates this capability (in landscape mode only on iPhone) using the m3u8 link provided above. We want the user to be able to select from among the six available languages so that they can view the video with the accompanying audio that matches their language needs. The player is using the HLSProvider Flash Plug-in to make a live HLS m3u8 playlist playable in the Flash player The HLS stream has multiple audio languages muxed in with the video. We have done this because this is the way that the HLSProvider plugin needs to see the audio options this way in order for them to be available to the Flash player. But the native iOS player needs them demuxed (separate streams from the video) in order to make the options available for user selection, so we have provided the multiple languages as separate variant streams to the player as well. A technical challenge will be that the playlist loads the available streams when the m3u8 url is called, but we only want to expose to the flash player the muxed audio options, since these are the ones that are functional for the Flash player. We also want those labels modified to represent the associated languages. 3. What is needed Approach #1 Re-skin the Chromeless HLSProvider player, configured with the following features: - Autoplay - A language selector in the navigation bar with the six available languages listed - Fullscreen option on the navigation bar - A play/pause toggle button on the navigation bar Code Flash Fallback for non-flash devices that will need to attempt to play back the m3u8 playback url natively Approach #2 (I'm not sure if this is possible) Incorporate the HLSProvider plugin with JWPlayer Premium (we have a Premium license) Make a playlist with playlist items each filtering for only a single language Expose the playlist in a way in the player that intuitively provides the end user with the available language options
