PVDF is normally used and known for the chemical resistant fiber, however, it is being widely used for energy harvesting applications too. It exists normally in four types of crystalline structure (α,β,ϒ and . In this paper, analytical techniques are used to characterize PVDF monofilament yarn manufactured by LENZING®. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), diffraction Scanning Calorimeter (DSC), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) and Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) were used to determine morphology, melting temperature, crystalline structure and composition of PVDF monofilament yarn. From these analyses it is concluded that PVDF manufactured by LEZING® is monofilament and consists of beta phase crystalline structure.
