Help create a C# application to interact with an RS232 controller

Hi, I'm a UK based Electrical Engineer with many years experience in .NET programming with a variety of languages, including C#, as well as creating both hardware and software in the RS232 stack. I've created many applications for customers before which have required interfacing with external hardware modules via serial/RS232 protocols through a WinForm GUI in C# and Visual Studio.
