Before creating a large project of a Bridge Crane Simulator ([login to view URL]), we want to create a small demo to validate some aspects of the game, specially physics and objects interactions. We have created a mind map as specification: [login to view URL] Press 'f' to expand nodes! Mind map is better but for those who like a textual description here follows a simplified version: Crane Simulator 1. Introduction First person game with the player inside a shed with only the bridge crane and some loads. 2. Game Play 2.1. Controls Numpad for crane and WASD + mouse look for player 2.2 Cameras First person 3. Artwork & animations Loads with basic primitives (cube, for instance) and bridge crane can be bought. 4. Physics (most important part with Ultimate Hope Asset) G force must act on elements Trolley and motor forces should be applied to the hope and load creating pendulum movements. Ultimate Hope asset will probably do it all. 5 . Mechanics Interactions between Load <> Hope, Trolley <> Bridge, and Crane <> Runways must be modeled. Fell free to ask any question

It sounds like you're trying to test a "Crane Operator Simulator" game, a la Half-Life 2's crane section. In this case, it looks like you're trying to have a bridge-style shipping yard crane instead of the standard boom-and-arm style crane. I've been a Unity developer for the past 3 years, and I've developed a number of physics-based games, some with complicated rope physics. This seems relatively straightforward; I think there's three major components: - the crane on rails, but still physics-based - rope physics - I recommend the Ultimate Rope Editor asset - extend/retract hook - hook automatically attach, detach button Shouldn't be any issue with putting this together in about 8 hours.
