This is to control the fuel mixture on a turbo motor cycle. It’s a budget landspeed motorcycle. I did some testing and tuning at an offical NZ avent last week and it outperformed all expectations. I struggled with getting fuel mixture right while riding though. At the moment I control manually while riding using exhaust gas read out and turning a small valve either in or out. It’s carbureted so much unheard of to adjust fuel curve while riding... cost me $18 NZ to set up so very proud of my invention and how well it works. I want to automate it now so I can give the actual riding of the bike the attention it deserves at high speed. The exhaust gas meter I have has a analog output and approx 1.1v is good for my req tune at full throttle. Any movement in voltage up or down needs to be converted to movement either way.(preferably clock/anticlockwise) Ideally a stepper motor would suit as can fit to the valve I currently use... however the movement/rotations will need to be restricted to say 1 or 2 turns either way to avoid valve being wound right out during idle and slowing down etc as exhaust gas readings can vary a lot in these cases and actual valve movements only have effect when on throttle and turbo boost active. Also it will need to reset to a known position or zero at either shut down or start up.. not sure if this is possible but without this it could run itself out of range with only a couple of shut downs. I can easily get feeds on bike to provide consistent power as well as switched with engine etc to provide proper shut down etc. I have selected Arduino as this seems available and cost effective in NZ but any other suggestions would be appreciated. The ability to tune the rate and amount moved would be a bonus and stop possible speed wobbles in stepper/valve .. getting near best fuel so slower move with more pause..eg over/under 0.1v of target only move say 3steps and pause 1 sec. When a long way off best fuel need bigger moves and less pause in valve ...eg over/under 0.2v of target move say 8 steps and pause 0.5 sec. It is possible for me to make a valve to work on an arm at quarter turn each way (servo???) but would be a last resort...prefer the stepper motor running turns on valve I have as a lot of tuning work has gone into this to date. Obviously a lot more info needed to write a sketch but throwing it out there.. no parts purchased as yet ..

Hi! The project itself is not not really hard.I was working with airborne systems for years, so regulator such this one is a piece of cake. But there are questions about equipment you will use. Core "problem" is sensor - we should check if it won't burn Arduino input. It's quite sensitive. And since I don't have anything like that, I will be able to use only variable power supply to test.

Your project, although seems simple, have some things to be solved. I have experience in embedded software development, electrical engineering and mechatronics. I have great experience on arduino based projects such as stepper driven robot chassis , balancing platform and much more small projects. I am aware of many problems related stepper motor. Relevant Skills and Experience Register based coding on arduino for higher speed.

Hello. I have experience of many years as an analyst for embedded systems, electronics, and industrial automation. Your project is a fascinating one, and I feel highly motivated to participate in this. I agree that the use of a stepper motor will be a better solution. To avoid position errors on the reset phase, I suggest the use of an end-of-stroke sensor (magnetic, mechanic ou optical) to read the valve position. Yes. The program can be parametric to permit appropriate behavior depending on time, valve position, an so on. We only need to discuss the input method to configure those parameters. The deadline I put in this bid (20 days) is for permitting the tests and adjustments due to the nature of this project. few things to note: Arduino is not really reliable for such applications because of the environment exposure. a few alternatives that can be explored are raspberry pi or embedded fpga. some fpga boards are around the same price as raspberry pi. so it can be a good alternative.
