I need you to write some articles. Hello, This is Priyanka...I' am a Physiotherapist. Speciality of field -Neurology.I have started a new project name- "Dual task performance and executive function test in physically active and under active elderly."

I have done wid the project named " Effect of 4-weeks exercise program using elastic tubing as pertubation force on balance in Elderly Males." Purpose of study was to evaluate the effects of a strength training program of the ankle plantar flexors and dorsiflexors on muscle strength, balance and functional mobility in elderly institutionalized subjects. Additionally, it was also our objective to determine the association between muscle strength gain and balance and functional mobility gains.

Procedure- A total of 40 diagnosed cases of impaired balance were selected based on inclusion criteria-

1. Age group- 60-70 yrs.

[url removed, login to view] balance score of 21-40.

[url removed, login to view] males

[url removed, login to view] with history of fall should have less than half of knee and ankle strength as compared to non-fallers.

Exclusion criteria-

1. Any recent

2. Artificial prosthesis

[url removed, login to view] neurological, orthopedic, auditory and vision problem.

Ethical committee meeting and written consent were taken from individuals prior to a study. All subjects were assessed for muscle power of ankle by using kendall MMT grading scale and then it was noted in assessment sheet.

Each subject were assigned to either group A (exercise program using elastic tubing and convrntional therapy) and group B (conventional therapy)

Group A were given - Frontpull, Back pull, Cross over , Reverse cross over.3 sets of 15 repetition 3 times per week for 4 weeks. And conventional therapy- sit to stand, weight shifts, functional reach side ward, bipedal heel rise, tandem walking, spot marching for 15 mins, 3 times per week for 4

Group B- conventional therapy as above.

Conclusion- 4 weeks exercise program using elastic tubing and conventional therapy is more effective as compared to conventional therapy alone in improving balance as first phase of resistance training exercise about 1-2 weeks, there is rapid improvement in the ability to perform training exercise, mainly results in learning effect, which is mediated by changes in motor skills and level of motivation.

In second phase, which last for 3-4 weeks, improvements in this phase is mainly due to neural training. i.e. no. of recruited motor units or firing rate and synchronisation of individual motor units.
