I have a few questions if I may ... Firstly ... What is the timeframe for the project? (How soon do you want or need it ready?) Have you already selected a microphone? If so, what type of connector does it have? (E.g., 3.5 mm Jack?) You just need to record 'audio events' where the volume is above some threshold - but you don't need to record the audio itself. Is that correct? If so ... Do you need to record the timestamp of each event? Or is the number of counts during some interval (e.g., per minute) sufficient? (I am wondering if you need an RTC module to generate timestamps.) Do you have a particular Arduino in mind - or you willing to leave that to my discretion? I do have some more questions - but the above information would at least give me a better sense of whether I can help you or not. NOTE: This bid is PROVISIONAL until I have more information. Dear Rob, I have put only a speculative amount in my bid as there are a number of considerations before a different and potentially lower amount can be input. Based on your requirements: - Not all microphones are equal so I am wondering as to what type of directional microphone is being considered, whether this microphone needs any power or amplification itself and whether this microphone needs any impedance matching. All of these affect the sensitivity of the microphone. - What will it be listening for? In terms of the audio spectrum if set too wide it could falsely trigger based on external environmental factors (light switches, room expansion and contraction etc) and a potentiometer type set-up might not be the best calibration mechanism. - For how long must the sound be present before it is considered the desirable sound. - Where is the text-record transmitted? Is it stored on an external device, sent via the internet (iot-like)?
