In femtocell deployments, the network topology of a cellular network changed when the femtocell is added. Therefore, the most important challenge to the deployment of femtocells faced was the Handover Management within Network. Seamless handover process between macrocell and femtocell base stations is a major challenge of LTE femtocell-macrocell. the handover procedure in femtocell network contains three scenarios namely hand-in, hand-out, and inter-FAP are considered in LTE femtocell environment between macrocell and FAP.
Hand-in: in this scenario, the handover is performed from macrocell to FAP.
Hand-out: represents the handover scenario where an UE connection is switch out from FAP to microcell.
Inter-FAP: this scenario presents the handover where an UE connection is switch out from FAP to FAP, in this scenario, all FAPs are assumed to be placed in the same area and operated by the same service provider.
