Resumen del concurso

Design a one page ”internal google“ - a search engine website for enterprise data. We need only the User Experience Design of the mobile and desktop versions in the form that suits you best (PSD, SVG, PNG, Axure, Keynote, Visio, Material Design, HTML / CSS / Javascript if you have the skills ...).

For information, we will not close the contest before the ending day so do not hesitate to schedule and apply.

We would like you to design the UI of a search engine similar to Google but having some additional features (see bellow). Our goal is to give access to the most relevant information, as fast as possible to our users. The UI should be simple and yet powerful.

Requirements:
Use the attached graphic guidelines (see ”Branding Guidelines.pdf“ attached bellow). Following principles of Material Design (https://material.io/design/) is much appreciated.

Functionalities:
As the UI of Google, our search engine application should embed (see the attached picture):
- (1) The search bar
- (2) Some tabs
- (3) The information “584,000 results (0.32 seconds)”
- (4) The “did you mean” functionality (suggestions of similar search terms potentially giving more results)
- (5) The list of the results

We also need to display some other functionalities (not present in Google):
- Each result usually has a thumbnail (a PNG of the first page of the PDF, Word, Excel, etc. document displayed in the result). If the thumbnail is missing, a generic icon (e.g. the file type) should be displayed.
- Filters. Just as in some e-commerce search engines, our engine has additional filters (compared to Google that has only the top tabs to filter on News, Images, Videos, etc.). Examples of additional filters are : language, organization, date, file type, data source, directory, …
- The number of results per page (and the possibility to choose the number of result you want to display per page e.g. 10, 20, 50, 100)
- Different possibilities to view your results (gallery view / list view)
- More than one location : one result can be found at different locations (compared to Google where one results leads to only one link. In our search engine one result represents a document that can potentially be found in different locations because it was, for example, copied and found in two directories).

Deliverables:
Design of the desktop and mobile versions of the UI : home page, results page, “results in same location” page. Including thumbnails, filters and all the above features. The prototype should be in PSD, Gimp, Axure, Keynote, Visio or other appropriate format. If you have the skills and feel like it, you can also provide a HTML / CSS / Javascript / Material Design prototype. We also need a good quality PNG/JPG export. If you use your own graphics and icons, you should ideally provide them in a vector format.

Good luck to you all!

A small update : for thumbnails, we would appreciate if you take into account that thumbnails can be in portrait mode, in landscape mode, other form (like rectangle) and also missing (then you should have a generic icon there). This is needed especially for the desktop version.

Hello, I'm working on this project since last night. A question: Is the font (typeface) part a mandatory requirement? Is it possible to use another? Thanks.

Concerning your late night work : do not hesitate to provide a first version, even if it is not finished. You can update your application afterwards if necessary and you will benefit of an early feedback.

About the font : just seen the comment from Mukund. No it is not mandatory. Just use any similar font you choose on your side. Sorry about this.

You are right. Depending on the tool you use, this font might not be available. Please use any other font that is similar. Thank you for your question.

A few updates on how we will advance with the contest. The first and most important thing is to apply. You can apply even if you don't have the final version. It is better. You will have all the time and the opportunity to update your application before the end of the contest. Another advantage is that you will get an early feedback allowing you to improve your chances.

We didn't ask for a HTML / CSS / Javascript / Material Design / ... version as we thought it requires more skills. Just a drawing with the User Experience Design is enough. But if you have these skills, you can also provide your application in this form. It is you that chooses the tool you want to use. We are only interested in the final look and the user experience.

Hello Sleek. I am not sure of what image like options you are referring to. Do you see them in the attached screenshot (Google-like.png) ? We do not actually need them. Otherwise, the part that concerns us is the search engine (with all the additional features like filters, thumbnails, multiple location links and pages, etc).

The browser does not make a difference. The website should display well on mobile, tablet and desktop (Firefox, Chrome, Safari and Edge) but here we ask only for the User Experience and User Interface Design. You don't need to provide HTML, CSS and Javascript but rather PSD and PNG.

You can use our logo if needed, but the search engine can be deployed as "white mark" and be re-branded. The logo should not take much space as a matter of fact.

Yes. But the project is for another brand, so we will not use the same logo as the profile picture.
