Resumen del concurso
The winner of this contest will provide the best (single scene?) comic strip from the two (2) support pictures provided below and will have the first chance at an additional opportunity to create another eight (8) for $150 each. Somehow… creatively, the picture of the record store from the outside and the scene and dialogue from inside the store need to be created…possibly one on top of the other or side-by-side or maybe it needs to be two pages…I don’t know…you are the expert and can create what looks best. You do NOT need to exactly replicate the examples I provided….you only need to create a great comic strip from these examples.
The story for context, begins with a student named Dana who decided to stay in his college/university town over the holidays so that he could move into a new apartment before the start of the next semester. The prior resident of the apartment had lived there for 50 years and left many things Dana needed to clean out, including what seemed like some valuable items such as an old vintage record collection. Dana decided to go down to Main St. in this university town and sell this vintage record collection at a store that buys and sells records. In this fictitious university town, the currency/money is called “clams” which are created at the “Clam Farm,” which creates and keeps track of all the “clams” in circulation. In order to transact with “clams” an individual or business needs to be a member of the “Clam Farm.”
It is up to you to design and portray the best artistic style and scene that wins the contest. You do NOT need to replicate exactly what I have provided, which is only for context and guidance. Any style or creation might win…however, I was impressed by the drawing style of a new comic book called “Change the Game” by Colin Kaepernick.
The dialogue in this scene is between the student Dana and the owner of the record store:
Dana:
“Good day Sir, I have a few classic Beatles and Bob Dylan albums I would be interested in selling. They are in mint condition… I would love to be paid in “clams” if you are a member of the Clam Farm?”
The record store owner:
(Impressed by the quality of the vintage record collection)
“Yes young man…we are registered with the Clam Farm…I would be willing to pay you 175 “clams” for your record collection!”
