I have started a clothing line named “TOP MALI”. I have so far designed the t shirts which are already on the market but plan to introduce jumpers as it is the winter season.The initiative behind it represents my native country of Somalia. ‘MALI’ being short for Somali and ‘TOP MALI’ represents the best of that Somali community.

The Somali diaspora has a population spread throughout Europe so the idea was to show the unity of our war torn country despite the different locations through out Europe that our people are based. The target market is for the youth aged 13-30 that associate with the hip hop culture. So the design I would want to be a modern hip hop design which is creative. I suggest searching up the rapper DRAKE’S ‘OVO’ clothing line for inspiration.

The key factor of this hooded jumper is that theme logo which I will attach below must represent the countries of which inhabit the Somali diaspora community which is U.K , Holland , Denmark and Sweden. The first hooded jumper would be in black coloured cotton so the design I suggest should fall in accordingly to the black background . My initiative of this project is to produce a jumper that is in line with the modern fashion and one that could be worn with a stylish outfit. Below I will leave links to give inspirations to the designs I want as well as my shirt design.

On the shirt design you may recognise that the letter ‘I’ is put in the shape of the Somalia nation as shown geographically which should be a key factor of the design. I am open to creative ideas but most importantly modern urban hip hop designs that must include the seperate nations respectively.

The plan is to have a each country have the same design assigned to them however a the colours of the nation imprinted on the the seperate jumpers as shown in the link below.
