We are a California based startup specializing in Artificial Intelligence applied to 3D characters to create photorealistic faces that speak and react so well they are indistinguishable from human actors.
We are currently working on creating trailer reels for a feature film utilizing this new technology and are looking for someone who can handle animation of an action adventure style movie.
All assets will be supplied, and the candidate would not be responsible for character animation. They would be required to animate vehicles, environment and camera movements as well as lighting and color correcting and editing to produce a cinema quality film. The contest is a way for us to source raw talent and the winner may be asked to work on the complete trailer reels and possibly the feature film.

This contest is to create an approximately 20 second, photorealistic clip in a cyberpunk alley. Assets can be from anywhere i.e. purchased. The judging will be based on creative use of the content, color, cyberpunk mood, camera work and editing. The most important criteria is, does it look cool and keep your interest.
The film must have more than one camera angle. Good use of depth of field and camera blur for fast moving objects may help realism. Adding a character(s) may add interest and the work will not be judged on the quality of character animation.

      Hi, we can't extend again however if you download premade assets and lower the resolution, you'd probably have plenty of time to enter if your schedule permits.

    Just a note that a lot of entries have just been random content or even still renders. There's only been a few entries that seem to grasp the central requirement of the contest. The that do few seem very, very good and I am hoping to see even more.

    If time is running short, consider rendering with Evee in Blender or using a lower resolution. At 24fps and 3 minute render per frame is only 1 day total render time. Showing skills in setting an interesting scene with great lighting and camera work is more important than resolution.

    Due to numerous public and private requests, the contest has been extended an additional 2 weeks to allow people to get their projects in. In an attempt to make up for any inconvenience caused, the prize has been increased to $600 and special consideration will be given to people who managed the tight deadline.

      Keep in mind you don't need characters. It could focus on anything as long as you walked away thinking "That looks like a real location and I wonder what's going to happen?"

      Essentially, yes. Given the proper assets, can you be the equivalent of the Director of Photography for a completely digital film. A DP for a feature film can work with the gaffer and location manager to set up an stunning shot, but you give them the same assets in Blender or Maya and they don't know where to start. We'd like to find an untapped talent that can do both.

    interesting project.this need world class cinematic trailer with good lighting, cinematic cam movement, environment skills, path movement animation, cinematic color grading, etc , with old school render and highest quality ray tracing 1 week is too short lets say 3 days to prepare all assets, 2 days animating,3 days render and post process but with UE it's quite possible (also 4K res but gonna be a hard time later to deliver huge files). $500 for featured film? #increaseprize

      Hi Riki, If you think a 20 second clip using premade assets, no characters and rendered in 1080p is a feature film and is beyond your capabilities, then this is definitely not a project you should attempt.

      Blender or UE4 are ideal but anything capable of producing a great clip is fine.

    Good point Mostafa. In light of the rendering involved, we have decided to reduce the required length to 20 seconds. 4k is not a requirement for rendering.

      We have no plans for closing early. In addition we have lowered the length of the clip to 20 seconds instead of 60 seconds so there would be time to render.

      Part of the contest is creativity so coming up with an individual backstory for your scene is important. This backstory is not something that needs to be submitted, but might help you to imagine an interesting scene.
