Resumen del concurso
Our group, Voices of Music, is a Music Ensemble that films our concerts. We want to put all of these video clips, which are now all available on YouTube and Vimeo, into a virtual museum and library. We are looking for someone who can build a brilliant and creative online browsing library, using open source (Blender or equivalent). Something like Panda3D, or even Quake, with its halls, rooms, wings, textures and so on, would be easily adaptable for this project.
Scope: this contest is for a working model. The winner of the contest will be invited to bid on the final design which will be a large scale, large budget, ongoing project which may take years to complete. There are no guaranties for the final project. You should provide a basic structure and plan, with several rooms working with videos and supplementary materials. Integrating 30-60 videos (YouTube links) is enough for the model, but you may use as much material as you wish.
Copyright and Intellectual Property: the concepts, ideas and materials for this project are Copyright by Voices of Music, Inc. We are paying for the design, and we will own all relevant rights. You may not reuse our concepts, materials and designs for other projects.
Open source: the materials must be open source. Blender is open source, so use Blender or equivalent.
Delivery: it should run on either Windows or Android.
This museum should have these key features. You should be able to walk around and play videos on screens on walls, look at images, paintings & texts by touching them or using a navigation screen. There should be a map that shows you where you are and where you can go. Basically, the structure should be like a video game, but instead of playing a game, you are visiting a museum.
Unique features: the design should be modular, so we can add on to it. The design should be foldable in 3D (think, transformers) so the person can reconfigure the layout or design in simple ways. It should be searchable, so you can find things.
Content: here you will find our 300 videos
https://www.youtube.com/user/Walvis2007
Each video has a detailed description.
On the walls of the library, arrange the videos (linked through YouTube) and put the text description nearby as a clickable item. Feel free to add images from relevant Wikipedia articles to add color & texture.
Basic architecture: this is a user re-configurable design, but the basic starting point should look like an art museum. The design is up to you, but one easy way to start is to think of five floors, Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, Classical and Modern.
On these floors, there should be halls, rooms and wings. You could have a wing that is a cultural region, like Italy, France or Germany, and halls or rooms that are more granular, like music of Bach, Corelli, Handel, Mozart, &c.
Each wing ideally should have a different look. There should be a wing for "Special Exhibits", just like an art museum: you can put anything you like in here, for example "Baroque Concertos."
The museum is free, (free ticket upon entry, with suggested donation) but one should ideally be able to donate via PayPal, or buy a ticket for Special Exhibits: these can be placeholders for now.
Carefully review the copyright status of materials that you use. You can also look through our website, www.voicesofmusic.org, but the material on our YouTube channel is the basic content of the museum.
Finding supplementary materials: enhance the walls with architecture from older buildings and art that is in the public domain. Use Wikipedia.
Secondary game structure: an interesting twist would be to have a hidden game structure within the Museum, for example locating a mysterious creature that walks the halls at night, or charmed items that look like objects in the museum. It could be a puzzle, like Myst. Players could build additions to the museum. However, the basic museum or library is the main goal of this competition.
